Replacement rotor rings & mounting hardware for race-only big brake kits
The AeroRotors below include mounting hardware designed for race-only applications. This hardware exchanges standard anti-rattle hardware for MAX-Float hardware that allows about 0.4mm of axial (in&out) movement. These rotors will rattle at low speeds, especially when when turning.
Why use this type of hardware? Some high-powered vehicles, driven by advanced drivers, expecially those with racing tires, may experience a phenonenon known as "pad knockback" that results in a soft brake pedal, after a series of high-G turns, followed by the next application of the brakes. Sideways loads on wheel bearings cause them to deflect, in turn causing the rotors to push the pads back into the caliper, away from the rotors. The next application of the brake pedal requires this gap to close, before the brakes begin to work. An extra 0.4mm of axial float in the MAX-Float mounting hardware allows bearings to flex, without as much deflection of the rotors. This may cure, or at least reduce, the amount of pad knockback. The tradeoff is extra noise from the rotor mounting hardware.
